Christmas Float 2014

Please Note:

Please be aware that we try and cover all the roads within the areas noted but we are limited to a time factor we start at 5.30pm weekdays and 4.30pm weekends and finish no later than 8.00pm as most children are in bed and we have complaints about waking them up if any later than this, so apologies in advance if your road is not visited.

Who are the Collectors?

Elham Valley & Wye Lions club provides the float, the driver and of course Father Christmas comes along.

On some nights, the collectors are from charities and clubs of the specific villages eg Scouts, Cricket clubs, playing fields, Paula Carr trust and the Hospice to name a few who support and share the collection with us.

Christmas Float 2013

Once again a fabulous float collection and we are so pleased with the generosity of all those who helped to make this so successful.

I will be posting the collections per village, but now the not so good news.

Save   Our   Santa

It's Thankyou From Us

AND

It's Goodbye From Him

Elham Valley And Wye Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported our Christmas Float in 2013, helping to raise a grand total of over 5.000.

Many local organisations benefitted by working with us and arranging collectors for various evenings.

The remainder of the money is used to fund a Christmas party for local elderly residents, held in either June or July to make travelling easier, and also to assist those less fortunate within Age UK or local hospices.

Sadly 2013 will be the last of 38 years of our float unless we can attract new members to the club. Due to poor health and an ageing membership we no longer have the ability to organise such an event.

For many people the arrival of the float marked the beginning of Christmas, and for us the look of  awe and wonder on the childrens' faces made the whole project worthwhile.

Membership to the club is open to men and women over the age of 18, and, apart from a small annual fee, the only thing that is asked for is a little time and effort.

If you are interested in finding out more details please call Club phone.   0845 6015212 or click on the contact us tab

Every year Father Christmas does the rounds of the local villages.

This enables us to provide parcels for some very needy & elderly people in our local communities, as well as a day out in the summer for them.

(In 2011 we went for a cream tea and entertainment at Westenhanger Castle and

2012 we went to Hawkinge village hall for another cream tea and more entertainment).

Other local charities also benefit from these collections whilst providing enjoyment on the nights for everyone..

If you think you might like to become a member and help save future collection routes next year then please contact us using the tab above.
